The Kurzicks are a religious people that make their homes in the Echovald Forest. They are one of three nations on the continent of Cantha. The Kurzicks are at continuous war with the Luxons.

Since the death of Shiro Tagachi, the Kurzicks slowly crept into the Echovald Forest and settled there. They have carved their homes and buildings in the trunks of the giant petrified trees.

The Kurzicks are a spiritual people who see signs in everything around them. Divination and foreseeing the future have a prominent place in their culture. Their society is a church-state governed by the Council of Nobles who stipulate laws and make decisions based on the guidance of their spiritual leaders, the Redemptors. There are five Great Houses that lead the Kurzick nation with lineages that can be traced to the earliest history of Cantha and beyond.

The House zu Heltzer

Members of the House zu Heltzer are the leaders of the Kurziks. Since the Jade Wind passed over the forest two hundred years ago, the zu Heltzers have lead a renaissance of thought, magic and art.

They are the greatest builders and inventors, enchanting the stone itself with magical wards and protections.

Their house motto is "The mind conquers all."

Their patron God is Dwayna.

Their leader is Count zu Heltzer and their home city is the Kurzick capitol of House zu Heltzer.

House Vasburg

Those of House Vasburg are the greatest warriors and fighters in the Kurzick Empire. To them battle is a perilous dance for which they train their entire lives.

Their house motto is "Battle is the most magnificent of all the true gods' creations."

Their patron god is Balthazar.

Their leader is Baroness Attia Vasburg, their patron saint is Saint Anjenka and their home city is Vasburg Armory.

House Brauer

House Brauer leads the Kurzicks in their pursuit of the aesthetic. They create great sculptures and paintings trying to bring colour and life into the Empire.

Their house motto is "Beauty in everything. In everything Beauty."

Their patron god is Lyssa.

Their leader is Count Archek Brauer, their patron saint is Saint Perahta and their home city is Brauer Academy.

House Lutgardis

House Lutgardis is responsible for creating and using musical instruments. Most notable about the house are its tree singers who tend the forever trees in the Eternal Grove.

They are able to reinvigorate the forest through song

Their house motto is "Music is the voice of the five true Gods."

Their patron god is Melandru.

Their leader is Duke Holtz Lutgardis, their patron saint is Saint Melodie and their home city is Lutgardis Conservatory.

House Durheim

House Durheim is known as the "old house". They are historians and scholars with an extreme reverence for the past. They claim to have a special bond with Grenth that enables them to chronicle the lives of every Kurzick.

Many of the House Durheim are also great poets and playwrights.

Their house motto is "The five true gods teach us, the ancestors guide us."

Their patron god is Grenth.

Their leader is Duchess Sandra Durheim, their patron saint is Saint Ehren and their home city is Durheim Archives.

When the Jade Wind swept through the branches of Echovald Forest, it turned everything to stone. Birds crashed to the forest floor in mid flight. Deer leaped from the ground as flesh and blood, and came to earth little more than life-like statues. Now, twi centuries later, life has cautiously returned to the forest. The Kurzicks were the first to venture back to the forest. There they have adapted to their petrified surroundings and have begun to carve their culture into this new landscape.

To the devout Kurzicks, everything is a sign. A portent of what is to come. They find a divine message and meaning in everything they witness. This church-state is ruled by the Council of Nobles, who makes decisions and laws only after receiving counsel from the spititual leaders, known as the Redemptors. Great Houses govern the Kurzicks, ancient families that can trace their origins into Cantha's distant past, and beyond. Today there are five main Houses, two of which are the most powerful and influential. It is common for the Houses to argue amongst themselves, but when it comes time to fight the Luxons, Kurzicks quickly forget their internal squabbles and focus their hatred on their long-standing enemy. Sinc Shiro's death and the petrifaction of the forest, the Kurzicks have built their elaborate homes and cathedrals directly into the fossilized trunks of the enormous trees that make up the forest.

The Luxons are a seafaring nation in the continent of Cantha who lived by the Jade Sea. Since the Jade Wind turned that sea into solid jade, they have become a nomadic nation mining the solid sea for treasures and traveling on great ships pulled by giant turtles or snails. The Luxons are locked in a constant feud with the Kurzicks.

Luxons are divided into three clans: The Serpent, the Turtle and the Crab. They are governed by the Council of Elders. Their clans often clash in skirmishes to demonstrate power. Such skirmishes take place between champions on opposing sides accompanied by their elite guards.

The Serpent

"Lexis is the current Captain of the Serpent and Aurora is her Champion. Born the fourth daughter of a noted warrior, her father had gained some renown as a leader through his military victories over House Brauer and House Vasburg. Her father's only shame was his inability to wrest control of the clan from its current captain. At the age of fourteen the young Lexis decided to end her family's shame and contest the current Captain. The only problem was that her four brothers had the same idea. As the story is told, at first Lexis was reluctant to take the field against her brothers, but it was too late, she had already thrown down the challenge and none of the siblings could withdraw. The night of the challenge Lexis went to each of her brothers in turn and convinced them that she had no ambition to become the new Captain and that she was no threat. The day of the challenge, the four eldest brothers fought the Captain and each other while Lexis held back. Only when the last of her brothers remained standing did she enter the fight. Lexis easily defeated the last remaining brother who was weary from defeating the others. In this way did she become the leader of The Serpent."

The Turtle

"Juno is the current Captain of the Turtle and Argo is her Champion. In her younger days Juno was the favored eldest daughter of the Turtle Champion Kivros. When she was barely more than a girl she and her father had a great falling out while attending the Convocation. Few remember what they argued about but the events of the next day will be whispered about for ages. All that is known is that a hunting party of some score including Kivros, Juno and her young friend Argo ventured out into the Jade Sea with only Juno and Argo returning. The two of them never speak of what happened and few dare to ask. Together the two of them proved to be an unstoppable team and easily defeated the old Turtle Captain. But that is a tale for another day."

The Crab

"Amara is the current Captain of the Crab and Daeman is her Champion. When she was barely in her fifth year her village was assaulted by the Kurzicks and both her parents were slain. Gilias who was then the Captain of the Crab was also lost in the cowardly attack. Amaras [sic] brother Artras took control of the Crab being the only survivor. Of Amara no trace was found though her brother claimed to have searched for her. The leadership of Artras was a dark time for the Crab, he would squander their resources on prurient pursuits all the while using his vile Champion Helios to defeat any who would dare challenge him. This continued for many years, until the day Amara returned from somewhere deep with the Jade Sea, a pack of Saltspray Dragons at her back. With these dragons under her command, she defeated her brother and his Champion and has wisely lead [sic] the Crab ever since. The dragons of course returned to the Jade Sea, but rumor has it that they wait for her even now, ready to return if ever she should have the need."

The Luxons & The Jade Sea

For a scant few seconds, the storm that followed Shiro's death wail roiled the sea, spawning waves that reached hundreds of feet into the air. An instant later, everything was frozen in place, but not by a sudden cold front - the sea was not turned to ice. It had become solid jade. In order to survive, the Luxons had to adapt to a literally landlocked lifestyle, unable to transport goods to market or even sail to nearby islands for fresh water. Their merchant ships had become one withthe petrified ocean, the currents that took them to far-flung lands were now as still as glass.

The traditionally seafaring Luxons became nomads sailing on a lifeless sea. They contrived ways to adapt their giant ships to the new landscape. They now carry out extensive jade mining operations on the frozen sea, uncoveriong magical oddities and precious resourses made up of the petrified life embedded in the unmoving waves.

Today, the luxons have grouped themselves into three different clans: the Serpent, the Turtle, and the Crab. To keep order, the Luxons invest authority in their Council of Elders, the ruling body that meets each year to modify and apporve the "code" that all clans will follow for the next twelve months.

Although the clans often battle against one another, this is less about warfare and more about demonstrating which caln is the strongest and most powerful. These battles are usually fought by each clan's champion, along with that champion's elite guard.

Wow thanks alot I thought the luxon were more about triditon but now I seem to prefer the Kurzicks House Brauer or House Lutgardis. But I wonder how the rest will think. More than likly want to ones that fight for honor and pride. Though choice my guild treats both PvE and PvP improtancey equaly. think I'll just have a vote started.
